Account-based service Privacy & Terms
These documents cover the account-based RumyFriend Jr web service and earlier account-based test releases. You do not need an account to read them.
Effective date: 15 September 2026 · Version 2026-09-15
For the current games-only iOS and Android app, version 1.1.0: read App Privacy and App Terms. The account setup, Friends, messages, profile photos and parent permission switches described below are not features of that app release. You can still request information or deletion about an earlier account-based test release.
Status of this page
This page applies to the account-based service described below. It does not describe the current games-only iOS and Android app.
The account-based features described below have these limitations:
- We do not yet verify that you are the parent. Linking a child’s account records your agreement, but it does not yet check your identity through one of the approved methods. Until it does, we do not treat that record as verified parental consent, and we say so here rather than implying otherwise.
- Outgoing text has limited automated checks for links, email addresses, phone-number patterns, message length and listed objectionable terms. These checks cannot identify every harmful sentence, grooming attempt or abusive interaction. Messages are not reviewed by a person before delivery. Safety reports are a separate process.
Children’s Privacy Policy
RumyFriendJr is intended for children aged 4 to 12. A parent or guardian sets the account up, and this notice explains what we collect from a child, why, who receives it, and how you control it.
What a child’s account holds
Your child uses a player name in Jr. When Google or Apple sign-in is used, Firebase Authentication also receives the provider's account identifier, email address and account name; that name may include a surname or full name even if Jr displays a player name. We store friend connections and connection codes, messages your child sends or receives, notification/device identifiers, game content and scores, online/activity status, and safety reports with the account and message details needed to handle them. If a parent enables profile photos, the app can collect and store selected profile photos in the child's private profile record for the allowed profile displays. This is different from a child chat: child conversations are text-only, and the profile-photo permission does not enable chat attachments.
| Information | Why we hold it |
|---|---|
| An account identifier created at sign-in | To sign your child in and attach their games and friends to the right account. |
| Friend connections and connection codes | To run the friends list, and only for the friends a parent has permitted. |
| Messages your child sends and receives | To deliver them, and to act on a safety report. |
| A notification token | To send your child’s device a notification. It is stored privately and is not readable by other members. |
What we do not collect
Jr does not request native device-location permission or use GPS to calculate distances between friends. Sign-in and hosting providers receive connection information such as an IP address; Google Sign-In uses IP-derived general location for fraud prevention. This is different from access to the child's precise device location.
We do not use a child's account, messages, photos or location for marketing or advertising, and we do not sell that information. Our confirmed first-party use and the named native SDK declarations do not involve tracking for targeted advertising or advertising measurement across other services.
Jr uses Firebase, Google Sign-In and Google ML Kit. These components collect sign-in/account information and device, app, installation, usage, performance and diagnostic information for service operation and analytics. Google Sign-In's SDK disclosure includes name, email, phone number and coarse location; this does not mean Jr provides a phone-entry form. ML Kit processes face-image inputs and results on the device, but separately sends technical and usage telemetry. The app may later upload a selected profile photo as described above. Some identity and usage records are linked to an account or device; the documented SDK performance and diagnostic streams are unlinked. The absence of a separate Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics product is not an absence of all SDK analytics or diagnostics.
Jr profile setup asks for a player name and does not ask for a date of birth, surname, phone number or email address. Existing email/password accounts can enter their email address and password to sign in; the email must already be verified. Google or Apple sign-in collection is a separate account flow and is described above.
The games, and what they see
Each game is a separate web page that the app opens. When your child opens a game, that game is told the account identifier and the player name, so it can greet them and record a score against the right player. The child’s photograph is never passed to a game.
Some games show a scoreboard, and a score recorded under a player name can be visible to other players of that game.
Who else receives information
Google and Apple provide sign-in, and Firebase stores authentication, account, friend, message, profile-photo and other app records and supports notifications. Google Sign-In and ML Kit also process the technical and usage information described above under their SDK disclosures. Hosting and content-delivery providers, including Cloudflare, receive ordinary request and connection information to deliver and protect the games and website. Game services receive the account/player information and game records needed for play and scores. We do not sell a child's information or provide their account or content records for marketing or advertising.
Your rights as a parent
You can ask us to show you what we hold about your child, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your permission for us to collect it at all. There is never a charge for this, and you never have to install anything to make the request.
How to request review, deletion or withdrawal →
Contact us to request access, correction, deletion or withdrawal of a permission. The app's account-deletion flow attempts to remove the sign-in and the account records it can reach and records a deletion request for remaining work. Some message, game, report or media records can remain outside that client operation. Using the button does not immediately delete every stored record, and changing a permission does not remove information already stored. Contact us about the scope and status of your request.
How long we keep it

Changes
If we change what we collect, why, or who receives it, we will give clear notice. Where a change requires fresh parental permission, the new collection will not begin until we have it.
Terms of Use
These Terms are between RumyFriend LLC and the parent or guardian who sets up a child’s account. “You” means that parent or guardian. They are separate from the terms that cover the adult RumyFriend service, and none of those adult terms apply here.
1. Who may use RumyFriendJr
RumyFriendJr provides games for children aged 4 to 12. A parent or guardian must set the account up. RumyFriendJr does not include Meet, Action Plans, paid personal services, or any arrangement to meet another member in person.
Some games may place your child in a session with other players, including adults. Playing a game alongside somebody does not by itself allow them to message your child privately or to see your child’s profile.
2. Parent controls
The parent area lets you change the available permission choices, including messaging and profile photos. Age and app restrictions still apply when a permission is enabled. Jr does not offer device-location or distance features, and a child conversation remains text-only: voice, video, attachments, group messages and location sharing are unavailable there. A parent link or permission switch is not a verification of the parent's identity.
Parent controls and safety reporting never require a paid subscription.
3. Player names
Use a player name rather than your child’s full name, school, address or phone number. We may restrict a name that is misleading or inappropriate. An account or a confirmed friendship is not a guarantee of anybody’s identity or conduct.
4. Friends and messages
Your child can connect with another player by sharing a connection code. Both sides must accept before anything is connected.
Direct messages are one-to-one and text only. Attachments, voice, video, group messages and location sharing are not available in a conversation involving a child, and this is enforced by our servers, not only by the app.
Messaging is available only between confirmed friends, and only while you have messaging switched on. Either person can block the other from the conversation, and blocking stops further messages in both directions.
5. What is not built yet
We would rather list these than let the sections above imply them:
- Outgoing text has limited automated checks for links, email addresses, phone-number patterns, message length and listed objectionable terms. These checks cannot identify every harmful sentence, grooming attempt or abusive interaction. Messages are not reviewed by a person before delivery. Safety reports are a separate process.
- There is no separate approval for individual adults, no separate teen category, and no activity log for parents.
- There is no subscription. RumyFriendJr has nothing to buy.
When any of these ships, this page changes first.
6. Rules for everyone
Harassment, bullying, threats, hate, impersonation, scams, sexual content, grooming, encouragement of self-harm, and attempts to get around protections for children are all prohibited. Do not ask a child to keep contact secret, and do not try to move a conversation off RumyFriendJr.
We may remove content or restrict an account, and we may preserve or report information where the law requires it. No system prevents every harmful interaction. RumyFriendJr is not an emergency service — if a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number.
7. Ending it
Contact us to request access, correction, deletion or withdrawal of a permission.
We may restrict an account for safety, fraud or a breach of these Terms, and we will explain why where doing so does not compromise another child’s privacy or an investigation.
8. Legal
We own the app and the games; your child may use them for ordinary personal play. Nothing here removes rights that cannot lawfully be removed, including consumer and children’s rights, and nothing here transfers our legal duties to you or your child.
